Just POCKET IT!!

Hi friends,

I have been using 'Pocket' for the past couple of weeks now.And I must say it has changed the way how I consume information online.

I am sure we all face the situation in our busy lives where we like a certain article on a website or on a mobile app that you use, but simply don't have the time to read it at that moment.Pocket comes to the rescue.

How to download content from recently blocked Torrent Sites

Hi Friends,

                 Those using torrents to download audio,video or any other type of files have been seeing this page a lot.
                " The site has been blocked as per the instructions of Competent Authority"

This is the result of a recent court order by the Madras high court order blocking acess to many leading torrent sites like The Pirate Bay, Torrent Rector, ISo Hunt and many more.Injuction from the court was obtained from a film industry outfit in Chennai seeking protection agains copyright violations of the Tamil film '3'.


This unfair blanket blocking of sites has prevented users of torrent sites to download legitimate content.


Well i have good news for you. You can bypass this by using proxy server sites. These websites are usually used to access blocked websites and to prevent hackers or spammers to access your information.

Great Auto Back up Software for you valuable data

Backing up your data is something which we would like to do ,but something which we don't end up doing. And even if we do we don't back up regularly enough.I think its because of time it takes for a backup,most backup softwares takes backup of files that have already been backed up, again increasing backup time.

Official WinZip iOS App Finally here!!

Its been some time coming but the official Winzip App was released this week on the AppStore.


The App doesn't have the same functionality as we get on the PC. This is due to the closed file system of iOS. You cannot create archives as we can on the PC or even the MAC for that matter.


But now zip files we automatically be detected and opened in the winzip app or u can use the 'open using' option.

Our First Video Interview

We visited the corporate office of  excel crop care on the the 27^th December, 2011 around 5 o’clock in the evening. The purpose of our visit to find out in detail about the origins of the company, their business process and the role of IT in the growth of the company.

Excel crop care is more than a 60 year old company which manufactures insecticides, wedicides, fumigants and soil health and bio products.

The video interview was taken in the impressive IT enabled board room. The room had options of setting various lighting conditions. This could be done by a control unit in the room with touch screen controls. The room was equipped with a high end audio system. The walls of the room were sound proof which gave excellent acoustics.

Mr. Pillai the IT head explained to us the the beginning of their website and their future plans for it.They intended the current static website to be revamped into a database driven website which gave control to them to update the site on a more regular basis. They also were going to list their products on their website in the future.

He also explained to us how their data is backed up. They have 2 servers, one situated at their corporate office which we visited and the other at Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge Centre (DKAC). He explained that DKAC was a Tier IV data centre which had all the redundancies like temperature control, automatic backups built in for their data to be secure.

Mr. Shroff the Managing Director explained to us one of the CSR activities undertaken by the company. ‘Shrujan’ is one such programme which trained the Kutchi women of Gujarat in the art of embroidery. With this initiative this art has now become commercial allowing the women in the area to earn a decent living.

Mr. Shroff was of the opinion that IT has played a significant role in the growth of their business, but he also mentioned that IT services can be used to help the business but benefits can be gained only if the business manager knows how to make use of the services.

On the whole the entire process of the interview was very interesting and enlightening thanks to the people we spoke to.

iMessaging V BB Messenger

Hi Friends,

With the iPhone 4s being launched, next in line is the new iOS . 

The most important feature for me in iOS5 for me will be i Messaging which will allow all iPhone , iPod and iPad users to interact securely with each other.

Based on the beta version of iOS5 here is my comparison between BB Messenger and imessaging.

Unlike BB ,iOS will have one integrated application for SMS and messages. The application will switch from SMS or i messaging depending on the availability of wi-fi and 3g which is very convenient. Just like BB users can send photos, videos etc too. 

BB messenger allows users to create groups and groups are like mini social networks. i Messaging although allows to have group chats but the groups created are not permanent. BB also allows users to add people on messenger who are not in their contacts, i Messaging lacks that feature.

 Last but not the least BB asks for a separate data plan for using messenger whereas i Messaging uses existing 3g plan and also works through wi-fi.

Seems like there is no clear winner. With the the growing number of iOS devices i Messaging will be  welcomed by most users. And the frequency with which Apple has been pushing updates in the past few months am expecting i Messaging to get even better.

IOS 4.3

Hi Friends and fellow Bloggers,
                                           The new IOS 4.3 has solved many of the problems i had with my Iphone 4. The push mail now works perfectly when WI-fi is on,which is great as i dont have to go checking for important mails manually.
             Also the native you tube app plays videos perfectly. Previously i used the Safari browser to view videos as the You Tube app loaded videos very slowly and most of the time not at all.
                     So its thumbs up from my side for the new IOS.:)
